National Disablitity Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

Early childhood intervention supports children under the age of 9 who have a developmental delay or disability. It helps build important skills in areas like communication, movement, social interaction, and emotional development.

The Early Childhood Approach is the NDIS framework for supporting children under 9 and their families. It focuses on providing the right supports early even before a formal diagnosis is made. Services are tailored to each child and family with an emphasis on building skills through everyday activities.

Speech and Occupational Therapy each focus on specific areas of development. Speech Therapy supports children with speech and language difficulties, while Occupational Therapy helps build independence in daily tasks like dressing, toileting, and fine motor skills.

Early Intervention takes a broader more holistic approach. It supports speech and language, social communication, early literacy and numeracy, emotional regulation and independence skills. Rather than focusing on one area, Early Intervention looks at the whole child and tailors support based on their strengths, interests and pace of learning.

Children aged 0 to 9 years who have a developmental delay or disability may be eligible for early intervention supports through the NDIS. These supports are designed to help children build skills and reach their developmental goals during their early years.

No - Children under the age of 9 do not need a formal diagnosis to access early childhood intervention supports. If your child is experiencing developmental delays they may be eligible for support under the Early Childhood Approach for early intervention

Therapy funding depends on your child’s age:

• Children under 9 years old are usually funded under the Early Childhood Supports category.

• Children aged 9 and over are funded under the Capacity Building – Improved Daily Living category.

A Key Worker is your main therapist and point of contact for your child’s early intervention services. They are qualified professionals with a background in education and specialist training in child development and learning.

The Key Worker supports your child and family while also collaborating with other professionals such as speech pathologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists or behaviour support practitioners as needed. They deliver therapy sessions and coordinate support based on your child’s needs, helping ensure consistency and building a strong trusting relationship with your child.

Key Worker support is usually funded under the Early Childhood Supports category in your child’s NDIS plan, listed as Capacity Building Supports.

We are a mobile therapy service - we deliver all sessions at your child’s home, school or kindergarten to support them in environments where they feel most safe and confident.

Once we receive your intake form, we will contact you to arrange a free 15-minute phone consultation. This is a chance to learn more about your child’s needs, answer any questions and explain how we can support your family before beginning therapy.

Yes - we provide mobile therapy by visiting your child in familiar environments like home, kindergarten or school. This allows us to observe and support the child in their everyday learning environment and collaborate directly with educators.

Yes - Travel costs apply based on NDIS guidelines:

• Time spent travelling to and from your location (labour costs)

• A per kilometre charge for distance travelled (non labour costs)
